For most people, no. We are currently in the “lock-in” period and, like it or not, you must stay with your current plan. Your next opportunity to change plans will be during the Annual Enrollment Period which begins October 15th and ends December 7th.
During the “lock-in” period you can only change plans under certain situations called “Special Enrollment Periods”. A couple of the most common Special Enrollment Periods are listed below:
Qualified (or disqualified) for Medicaid.
Qualified (or disqualified) for Extra Help.
Moving outside of your plans service area or into the service area of another plan (can be another county or state).
Diagnosed with a qualifying chronic condition, such as diabetes or heart disease (must enroll in a Chronic Special Needs Plan).
Moving into or out of a nursing home or assisted living facility.
This is just a few of the Special Enrollment Periods available. To see if you qualify please contact Sun Coast Legacy Advisors for all of your Florida medicare needs today!
